The Guéry Estate
It’s the locals’ favorite spot for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Le Guéry has a wild, almost surreal atmosphere, where the frozen lake faces the volcanoes.
The experience: A snowshoe hike through pine forests and open plateaus to admire the Tuilière and Sanadoire rock formations.

Mont-Dore or Chastreix
You have a choice of two different atmospheres: Le Mont-Dore, with its high-altitude ski area at the foot of the Sancy, or Chastreix-Sancy, for a more laid-back “village resort” vibe.
The experience: You can ski on the slopes of the highest peak in the Massif Central, less than 30 minutes from the lodge.
Le Clos's tip: Chastreix is perfect if you have kids or if you want to ski without the stress of large crowds.
The Dog Sledding Adventure
Just outside Tauves, several mushers offer introductory dog-sledding experiences or lessons in dog-sledding.
The experience: Let the huskies pull you along the ridges of Chastreix, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the volcanoes.
